The leaves of Rhigozum obovatum grow in fascicles on small spur-branchlets. They are trifoliolate in structure, i.e. having three leaflets each; or rarely simple when some leaflets did not develop. There is a stalk (petiole) on the leaf as well as a petiolule (stalk) on each leaflet.
The leaflets are small, obovate and grey-green with rounded tips. They are finely notched along the margins that are rolled under (Coates Palgrave, 2002).
