Agapanthus miniature hybrid

This small Agapanthus plant is thought to be a hybrid. It grows to about half the size of what the common garden plant, mostly Agapanthus praecox, achieves. The flowers are pale blue, face outwards and are not pendulous. It resembles A. praecox subsp. minimus found in the Western and Eastern Cape.

The Agapanthus genus has seen much horticultural development. Many astonishing cultivars with unusual colours are available on the market. Nature itself also marches on with natural hybridisation, making this genus a widely admired, but poorly identified array of plants (www.plantzafrica.com)
