The genus Gethyllis or commonly kukumakranka consists of about 32 species, occurring in the western dry regions of South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.
This one looks like Gethyllis afra but that species only occurs in the Western Cape. Gethyllis flowers emerge solitary in summer, after a dormant period when the winter leaves have long disappeared. The flower is followed by a cucumber-like edible fruit. The fruits of several species have long ago been used in the flavouring of brandy (iNaturalist; Wikipedia).
