    Dierama dracomontanum flower

    Dierama dracomontanum flower
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The flowers of Dierama dracomontanum normally dangle in pendulous fashion in a slender spike, here held up for the photo. Flower colour varies from rose pink, purplish pink to red or coral, in light or dark shades. The flowers are funnel-shaped with pointed tepals in radially symmetrical arrangement. The style tip is divided into three style branches tipped with stigmas.

Pollinators for this genus are mostly bees (Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; www.rareplants.co.uk; www.pacificbulbsociety.org).
