Drimia intricata flower

The flowers of Drimia intricata have tepals that may be white, pink, yellow or purplish brown as in the picture. A shiny surface with uneven texture is to be seen on the tepals here. There are greenish brown stripes on the lower tepal surfaces, but here visible on the top as well. Tepal tips recurve slightly. The stamens are attached to the tepals and converge to present the black and white anthers touching each other. The ovary is spherical.

Flowering happens from spring to midsummer according to some sources, midsummer to early autumn in others. The plant is leafless when in bloom (Lowrey and Wright, 1987; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; Van Wyk and Malan, 1997).
