    Asparagus densiflorus leaves and fruits

    Asparagus densiflorus leaves and fruits
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The leaf-like cladodes of Asparagus densiflorus seen here are produced in spaced fascicles on the short yellow or green side-branchlets, although a node sometimes carries just a solitary cladode. The older stems grow slightly woody. The “leaves” are linear with pointed tips and tapering bases, some curving, others straight; their colouring bluish grey or pale yellow (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; www.plantzafrica.com).
