These unusual maroon to purple leaf colours of Cineraria geifolia are sometimes seen. Whitish hairs are visible on the leaves and stems, as are the small leaf-like bracts at the base of the petioles.
The elaborate rounding at the leaf base, resulting in a shape that resembles both heart and kidney, makes the plant easy to identify (Manning, 2007; Clarke and Mackenzie, 2007; Mustart, et al, 1997).
