Rothmannia capensis in production

A Rothmannia capensis tree may be full of fruit, ranging in colour from green to brown and black. This begins in January, but may be seen almost throughout the year.

In traditional medicine smoke (or vapour) of the heated juice has been applied to wounds for increasing the rate of healing. The juice of these fruits leave blue stains (Coates Palgrave, 2002).
