    Eriosema salignum leaflets

    Eriosema salignum leaflets
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Ivan Lätti

The leaves of Eriosema salignum show their recessed lateral veins that ascend from midrib to margin on the upper surfaces of some leaflets. Net-veining lends a rough surface to the leaflets. Lower leaflet surfaces are densely covered in silvery hairs.

The central or terminal leaflet of the trifoliolate leaves has a longer petiolule (stalk) than the lateral ones, becoming up to 6 mm long, unfortunately not displayed in the photo. Some of the characteristic brown leaf stipules are visible (Van Wyk and Malan, 1997; Manning, 2009).
