    Satyrium humile leaves

    Satyrium humile leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The two basal leaves of Satyrium humile spread near the ground on opposite sides of the stem that they sheathe, one above the other. Above them, small sheathing leaves are spaced and erect along the reddish-brown stem, their tips pointed. The similar looking bracts among the flowers in the spike take their time to become fully deflexed on the open flowers (Liltved and Johnson, 2012).
