    The corolla of Roella ciliata may also look like this. A dark ring or blotches occurs on the petals where they curve out from the corolla cup, the markings often framed in white on the upper side. The spreading petal lobes may be rounded or broadly tapering ending in tiny, mucro-like tips. The cup is usually pale to whitish near its base, but blue colouring may in few plants spread into it as in the photo (Manning, 2007; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; https://pza.sanbi.org).
