    Gladiolus liliaceus stamens and stigma
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The Gladiolus liliaceus stamens are together and erect in the corolla, not protruding above the curve of the tepals. The filaments are thread-like, the anthers angular in shape, their surfaces here pale buff and granular. The anthers are from 11 mm to 16 mm long. The pollen is yellow or cream.

The style is slightly longer than the stamens, presenting the three-branched, whitish stigma above them (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Mustart, et al, 1997; iNaturalist; www.pacificbulbsociety.org).
