    Radyera urens is densely hairy, even furry or felted on most parts apart from its petals. Older leaves lose their upper surface hairs to a large extent. The young leaf in picture clearly hasnt yet.

    The star-like, branched hairs irritate human skin when the plant is touched. One of the plant’s common names is the Afrikaans jeukblom (itch flower) (Le Roux, et al, 2005; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Eliovson, 1990; iNaturalist).
