Combretum hereroense bears sweet-scented flowers that are cream or light yellow. They appear in dense spikes with the new season's leaves.

The typical Combretum four-winged fruits, dark in the centre and reddish brown on the wings may sometimes give the tree a coppery appearance (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Carr, 1988; iNaturalist).
