Adromischus caryophyllaceus, in Afrikaans commonly known as nentabossie (little nenta bush), is a perennial, a multi-stemmed succulent growing to about 35 cm when in flower. Its branches may be erect or decumbent.
The tubular flowers of about 2 cm in length open into five-lobed corollas. The corolla has bright pink or purple lines down the centre of each lobe into the throat.
The species distribution is in the Western Cape from Hermanus, Worcester, the southern Cape coastal area and the Little Karoo to around Uniondale.
The habitat is humus-rich soils in the shade of bigger shrubs like spekboom (Portulacaria afra), guarri (Euclea undulata) or renosterbos (Elytropappus rhinocerotis). The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist; JSTOR; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
