    Diospyros species branches

    Diospyros species branches
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

This plant photographed in August on the Piketberg Mountain is thought to be a Diospyros, although none of the species known in the Western Cape seems to fit the observed features.

The youngest stem parts are cream, turning pinkish red, later brown and grey. Old, woody stem parts have hard, longitudinally ridged bark. Three more photos of this plant are shown for this species in the Diospyros Album.
