    Lapeirousia jacquinii floral stages

    Lapeirousia jacquinii floral stages
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Buds, open flowers and withered ones are all present on this Lapeirousia jacquinii plant.

Bracts of different sizes, some broad-stalked and with asymmetrical blades support their respective flowers at the base. Some bract margins appear coarsely hairy or fine-toothed in picture.

The buds reveal that the white colouring upon the tepals of the lower lip shows through on the outside surfaces as well, the red not (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
