    Melasphaerula graminea green fruit

    Melasphaerula graminea green fruit
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Melasphaerula graminea fruit are triangular, rounded and thickly flattened capsules. They are pale greenish white and leathery before they dry, bearing two globose seeds per locule. The fruit surfaces have glistening surface cells.

Grey and white triangular bracts with acutely pointed tips subtend the fruit (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Le Roux, et al, 2005).
