Jamesbrittenia racemosa flower

The flowers of Jamesbrittenia racemosa grow in a loose raceme, solitary from leaf axils near stem-tips.

The long-tubed flower has five, white or pale lilac lobes that spread with pointed purple streaks around the small mouth. Inside the throat the lower parts of these streaks may change colour to dull yellow or reddish. The lobes are oblong with a notch between two rounded tips. Flower diameter is about 1,5 cm.

Flowering happens late in winter and early in summer, the conventional bloomtime of so many Namaqualand annuals. The season of these flowers is sometimes a little longer (Manning, 2009; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
