    The hoenderbos is another of the South African Pelargonium species that has become well established in many gardens. The longer such a plant has been a garden plant, the greater the variations it may display, as well as the number of specific cultivars that may be presented for sale under its name.

    There are variations in leaf shape and flower colour, as is to be expected from a plant that is adapted in areas as different as Namaqualand, the Little Karoo and the Eastern Cape. The plants natural habitat is fairly dry and subject to harsh temperatures (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2009; iNaturalist).
