Pterygodium pentherianum section of flower spike
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The Pterygodium pentherianum flower spike is loosely flowered, comprising four to eight flowers. The inflorescence becomes about 8 cm long. The lance-shaped floral bracts become 27 mm long and 8 mm wide. The lip appendage sides fold in, leaving an opening to the flower centre at the top.

Flowering happens from late winter to after midspring (Liltved and Johnson, 2012; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
