    Zygophyllum morgsana fleshy fruit

    Zygophyllum morgsana fleshy fruit
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Against sunlight the still fleshy Zygophyllum morgsana fruit divulges details of the developing seed in its core. The veining is dense in the outer parts of the wings, less so in the central, business part of the fruit where the ovule has started its expansion.

The fruit stalk in picture bulges slightly near its attachment to the fruit where a bit of dry calyx persists.
