Erica sparsa pale flowers

The pointed sepals on the back of the pale Erica sparsa corollas in picture are as pale as the corollas. The peduncles on which tiny floral bracts are visible, are here more colourful than the flowers.

The anthers are dark if not black, just visible in the mouths of the nodding flowers. The styles are far exserted, even longer than the length of the corolla. The stigma at the style-tip widens flat-topped or in a tiny somewhat red cup.

Bare stem parts are well represented in the photo, while some foliage has turned orange, suggesting the arrival of the fall. The photo was taken in March (Manning and Helme, 2024; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist).
