Pelargonium tetragonum leaves are often absent from the tangled stems. The plants tend to live in semi-arid regions where their leaves drop off early, photosynthesis continuing in the stems. The thick leaves are stalked and alternate as Pelargonium leaves usually are. The leaves are about 4 cm wide.
The succulent blade in picture is deeply lobed, angularly as well as roundly. Its colour is dull grey-green with a hint of yellow in parts. The slightly sunken veins positioned conveniently like rivulets across the slightly coarse-surfaced lobes remind of the lines in the human hand. Sparse stubble is perceptible along parts of the margin (Euston-Brown and Kruger, 2023; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist).
