A well-developed Pteronia incana shrub is often notably wider than tall. The single-stemmed shrub branches much, becoming well-rounded when standing alone.

This plant is growing in stony Little Karoo veld near a seasonal streambed by a clearing among tall shrubs and some renosterbos (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist).
