    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The beginnings of flowering are visible on the Selago villicaulis stem-tip in picture. The purple-tipped bracts are mostly still taller than the emerging corollas of the developing cluster. The first flowers to open are around the base on the outside of the inflorescence.

The photo was taken in June in Kirstenbosch (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org).
