Aspalathus acocksii, commonly known as the pompom Capegorse, in Afrikaans as the Kristinabos and previously scientifically as A. quinquefolia subsp. acocksii, is a sparingly branched, erect shrub or shrublet reaching heights to around 1 m.
Leaves are densely crowded on the upper stems, less so lower down to bare stem surfaces low down on older bushes.
The species distribution is restricted to the southwest of the Northern Cape and the northwest of the Western Cape on the Bokkeveld Plateau and the Cederberg Mountains. The photo was taken at Kagga Kamma.
The habitat is dry fynbos on gravelly or sandy slopes and flats. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; JSTOR; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
