The inflorescence of Aspalathus acocksii is a compact, somewhat rounded stem-tip spike bearing about 20 yellow flowers shaped like pea-flowers. The flowers are subtended by obovate, silvery bracts. The calyx ends in narrow, linear lobes.
The banner petal is ovate with rounded tip and hairy on the outside. The wing petals are oblong to crescent, while the keel is crescent-shaped with a prominent basal pouch.
Flowering may occur from late winter to after midsummer. The photo was taken early in September.
The stem leaves in picture are simple and spirally arranged, the upper stems velvety, covered in soft, short, whitish hairs (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; JSTOR; iNaturalist).
