    Wahlenbergia albens leaves

    Wahlenbergia albens leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The simple, stalkless leaves of Wahlenbergia albens are alternate or spiralling on the stems, usually present in clusters grown from axils of the earlier, solitary leaves.

The thickish, linear, somewhat ericoid blades are channelled below from their margins being rolled under, sometimes also twisted at the base and curving in slightly.

The pointed leaf-tip sometimes has a tiny mucro protrusion. The dark green surfaces appear slightly rough, hairiness about absent to minimal (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://worldfloraonline.org).
