The flowerheads of Arctotheca populifolia grow solitary on woolly, hollow peduncles that curve or are erect.
One row of short, folded or ridged, yellow ray florets spread around the yellow disc. The disc comprises many, fertile florets that are tubular and five-lobed.
The inner row of involucral bracts has membranous margins. Each woolly fruit bears a crown-like pappus.
Flowering happens all year round (Manning, 2007; Le Roux, et al, 2005; Mustart, et al, 1997; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; iNaturalist).
