    The beginnings of Crassula tomentosa var. tomentosa branchlets made up of buds in the leaf axils are here dominated by the decussate leaf pairs.

    The elongated leaf discs are thickly succulent, hairy with conspicuously ciliate margins. The succulent blades ascend, partly hiding the buds at this stage. The sessile leaf bases meet in pairs or nearly so around the stem without being fused (Frandsen, 2017; Smith, et al, 2017; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
