Trachyandra ciliata, sometimes called common Capespinach or veldkool, offers food to people from its inflorescences, not normally the leaves.
The rhizomatous perennial may start off with few leaves, more when plants mature and conditions are favourable (Privett and Lutzeyer, 2010; Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; iNaturalist).
