Asclepias eminens spreading corolla

The five large, narrowly pointed Asclepias eminens petals or corolla lobes become reflexed outwards or down while their tips curve in slightly.

The five corona lobes above them are erect in the flower centre, arising from the corolla base. The corona is taller than the central column where the anthers and superior ovary with its broad style head and stigmas are present.

The corona lobes are flattened on the inside, forming purple-coloured, cowl-like cavities at their tips (Pooley, 1998; Van Wyk and Malan, 1997; JSTOR; iNaturalist).
