Two narrow, leathery, leaf-like spathes ending in acutely pointed tips envelop the Moraea tripetala flower base. The inner spathe is much taller than the outer one, even exceeding the flower, its tip dry. The lower spathe tip has turned red and brown.
The style branches over the corolla in picture follow the tepals outwards in their lower parts, lying upon them. The forked tips of the branches angle inwards, meeting each other (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
