The Diascia hexensis flowers grow solitary from leaf axils on pedicels of up to 8 cm long. The flowers nod in bud.
The two-lipped, unscented flower has a four-lobed upper lip and a large one-lobed lower one that is notched in the photo. All the lobes are rounded, the upper ones lined in dark red near the base. The lines enter the bowl of the corolla that is dark red-purple in its base, while the spreading lobes are paler magenta-purple. There are fine, dark dots scattered on the corolla lobes and two small, yellow marks inside the bowl on the upper lip. Fine hairs are visible, particularly on the corolla margin.
The stamens are tipped with yellow anthers that cohere erectly in the flower near the lower lip. The ovary is oblong to ovoid, the stigma positioned among the stamens (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist; http://www.worldfloraonline.org).
