Drosanthemum chrysum is a slender but densely branched, succulent shrublet that reaches 10 cm in height, sometimes more.
The stems are reddish. The succulent leaves are opposite, narrowly oblong and pointed with bladder cells.
The species distribution is in the Little Karoo in the Western Cape near Ladismith.
The habitat is fynbos and succulent Karoo on stony slopes. The species is range restricted and rare, its population deemed stable early in the twenty first century (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; http://worldfloraonline.org; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
