Erica rosacea subsp. rosacea, previously known scientifically as Thoracosperma rosaceum, T. rosacea or other names in that genus, is a dense, single-stemmed shrublet, erect or spreading, reaching heights from 20 cm to 1 m.
The species distribution is in the Western Cape on the Langeberg Mountains near Swellendam to the west of the Eastern Cape, as far as Humansdorp. The photo was taken south of Oudtshoorn.
The habitat is north-facing lower fynbos slopes. The habitat population of the subspecies is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Manning and Helme, 2024; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://www.worldfloraonline.org; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
