The Eriocephalus ericoides subsp. ericoides flowerheads in picture present several two-branched styles exserted above the other purple parts of some of the florets. The thready branches resembling antennas are longish and linear, tilted away from each other at roughly the same angle in all the flowers visible, their purple flesh somewhat translucent (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
