The simple leaves of Othonna species nova (vanillodora) are borne erectly.

The leaf-shape is narrowly oblanceolate, the tips rounded and the bases tapering into short petioles. The midribs are notable, particularly lower down on the grey-green blades, sometimes red purple. The margins are entire apart from the occasional slight and blunt tooth. Leaf dimensions are about 3 cm long and 1 cm wide (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015).
