Syncarpha ferruginea flowerheads

The discoid flowerheads of Syncarpha ferruginea grow solitary on erect peduncles, the five-lobed florets bisexual. The several rows of yellow, papery, involucral bracts end in acutely pointed tips and start off coppery brown. Flowerheads are about 25 mm in diameter.
Flowering happens in winter to early summer.
The fruits have feathery bristle pappuses (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
