    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Lobelia chamaepitys grows simple, narrowly oblong leaves that have sunken midribs and unevenly toothed margins.

The flowers grow mostly solitary on erect, naked pedicels that are usually light brown and up to 12 cm long. The hairless flowers are bright to deep violet-blue and up to 16 mm long. The photo was taken during November (Marais, (Ed.), 2017; Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; iNaturalist; https://www.fernkloof.org.za).
