    The young Serruria fasciflora growth includes some foliage redder and hairier than the rest.

    Smaller new inflorescences are pushed higher up beyond the still dominant (also bisexual) ones of mature blooms absorbing and dispatching pollen. Every horizontal set of flowerheads is surrounded by needle-like, green leaf tips at the height of the pollen presenters (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; Mustart, et al, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
