    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The opposite, obovate, sometimes narrow leaves of Manulea tomentosa often acquire shallow, dark red marginal tooth fairly soon, especially near their tips, although some yellow-green mature leaves in picture have failed to do so.

The petioles are often quite short, the thick blades slightly convex or curving down near their tips. Apart from the hairiness the blade surfaces are rough.

The photo was taken near the beach at Sandbaai during May (Manning, 2007; Mustart, et al, 1997; Bean and Burman, 1985; iNaturalist).
