    Lobelia pinifolia sepals and fruit
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

Long, blackish sepal lobes hold the corolla tubes of these pale Lobelia pinifolia flowers. They are hairy and tapering to acute tips that often veer away from the tube. These sepals are not conspicuous in the floral component mix, but longer than their counterparts on many other Lobelia species.

The green fruit in picture are two-valved capsules upon which the browned calyces persist (Manning, 2007; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
