Euphorbia natalensis is a tufted perennial that resprouts from a woody rootstock, reaching heights from 15 cm to 70 cm. The stems are simple or branching near the top. Plant parts exude a milky latex.

The species distribution is in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal but maybe more widely along the southern coast of the country. The photo was taken near the Sani Pass.

The habitat is grassland from the coast to elevations around 2400 m. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Pooley, 1998; Trauseld, 1969; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
