Spacing of the leaf pairs on the erect Gnidia oppositifolia branches becomes uneven from stem elongation slightly below the stem tips. The acutely pointed leaves maintain a militaristic rigidity in formation, unmatched by their colouring. Hues of green on the blades with purples at some tips, occasional yellows and a little greyish blue abound, in contrast to the yellow and cream of the flowers.

Apart from an overall bias or leaning to the side in the plant part in picture, the branches are no match for the leaves in parade ground standards.
