    Author: Ivan Lätti

Characteristic yellow nectar guide patches on inner parts of the Hypocalyptus sophoroides flowers are clear to see here, restricted to the base of the centrally folded banner petals. The roundly curved wing petals below are tips together over the incurved keel that is (almost) out of sight.

At the top of the inflorescence the long, lumpy buds covered in the brown calyces are closer together than the flowers. The upper calyx lobes are joined to near the top, the others triangular. Little is in evidence of thread-like bract remains among the buds here (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
