Prismatocarpus fruticosus

Prismatocarpus fruticosus is an erect, slender-stemmed and straggling shrublet reaching 50 cm to 90 cm in height.

The needle-like, somewhat ericoid leaves grow in alternate tufts up the thin, often-brownish stems. The curving leaves are coarsely hairy on the margins at the base.

The species distribution is from the Cape Peninsula to the Cederberg in the north and to Uniondale in the east.

The habitat is lower fynbos slopes and flats in sandstone derived soils. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Manning, 2009; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; Mason, et al, 1972; iNaturalist; https://redlist.sanbi.org).
