Tecomaria capensis slender orange corollas

This orange colour is also common among Tecomaria capensis flowers. The thin corolla tubes emerge initially straight from the small green calyces on ascending pedicels. The curving happens in the middle sections, the widening upper tube parts again straight before the elaborate escape stances of the flamboyant lobes.

The bunch of four stamens in two pairs of unequal length (didynamous), are about as far exserted as the purplish style, slightly above them from each corolla.

There is a flower part in picture lacking corolla and stamens. Only the persistent style protrudes like a fishing line from the five-lobed calyx. The ovary may be undisturbed by the early floral loss, its seed may still be set (Manning, 2009; Coats Palgrave, 2002; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
