The winged fruits of Combretum zeyheri are comparatively large as South African Combretum species go. The common shape is, however, still there. It is possible occasionally to find three-winged fruits among the normally four-winged ones.

The wings of C. zeyheri fruit may have a slight sheen and be coarsely corrugated. The colour is initially pale green, drying out to become brown or straw-coloured. The body of the fruit is slightly darker than the wings. The fruits usually measure about 6 cm to 8 cm wide and 6 cm to 8 cm tall. They may be found on the tree from the end of summer to mid-spring (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Schmidt, et al, 2002; Carr, 1988; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997; iNaturalist).
